What's New, January 2026

Hello! Hope your new year has been going well!

I started off the new year by shopping a new notebook. I filled last year's with words and covered it with stickers.

I spent the month pushing forward on recording and mixing my next album. It's mostly done but mostly is not all the way so! I also pulled most of my music from streaming services; the producer singles are still up there. Spotify has been running ads for the new federal murder squad, which seemed like a good excuse to move on from the platform. Besides, unless you're a major-label artist with an enormous following, streaming services are notoriously exploitative and penurious. I've also been hosting the team selection competitions at Slam Euphoria. I helped design the format for the season and we qualified our first four competitors for team selection finals, which will take place in April. Hooray!

I've also started a new year of media goals. In addition to renewing last year's goals (12 albums, 12 books, and 12 movies), I'm resolving this year to also listen to 6 audio books. This month I listened to At Last! x Etta James (full of bangers), read Emergent Strategy x adrienne maree brown (a little gestural for my taste but overall a pretty good read), and watched Wicked: For Good (I started last year with part 1 so I liked the symmetry).

As always, much more to come. Thanks for rocking with me ✌🏼
